Top 5 outfits for this season
THE STREET STYLE
The street style scene can be incredibly theatrical, with guests having at least three outfit changes in a day in the back of their chauffeured cars, pieces borrowed by designers for an hour or so and outfits chosen for their wow factor. As fabulous as these moments can be, we find ourselves drawn to the quieter outfits that we can actually use as styling inspiration for months, if not years, to come.
THE MINIMALIST STYLE
When at fashion month, British Vogue’s deputy editor and fashion features director, Sarah Harris, always focuses on timeless, simple wardrobe pieces. Instead of shouty prints or extroverted trends, she keeps it polished and classic in elegant tailoring and refined separates. In London she wore loose-fitting black trousers with a utility shirt-style jacket, white T-shirt and pointed pumps – an outfit you don’t need a fashion show invite recreate.
THE XL CREAM COAT
This season Tove showed its debut fashion show, and Caroline Issa showed us just how beautiful its clothes are in this beautiful combination. We can’t decide which we love more – the wrap-effect, ruched bodysuit in a rich chocolate hue or the ankle-skimming wool-blend camel coat.
LET YOUR MOTORCROSS JACKET DO THE TALKING
We have been telling you for several months now how leather motorcross jackets are about to make a comeback, and this outfit gives us a lesson in how to style it. The key is to keep the rest simple, with black trousers, black loafers and a classic leather shoulder bag, and let your jacket do all the talking.
UPDATE OFFICE CLASSICS WITH GRAPHICS T-SHIRT
Alexa Chung went all-out with this London Fashion Week outfit, carrying a JW Anderson frog clutch and wearing lime green strappy sandals in February. If you look past the frog, however, this is a timeless outfit that you can wear with so many items you already own. Simply take your smarter office essentials, such as this grey wool coat and jersey skirt, and then add a playful graphic T-shirt.
